Cleaning Toilets, Flush The Dirt Away
Cleaning toilets is not a job anyone looks forward to but it is very important not only for the appearance of your bathroom but also your health.
As hard as it is to believe, there really is a correct and incorrect way to get your toilet sparkling. People spend far too much time worrying about the inside of the toilet bowl and too little time on the outside of the toilet.
The outside of your toilet is where you need to spend the time cleaning and disinfecting because you sit on the seat, lift the lid and push the handle. The parts of the toilet you touch are more important than the toilet bowl. One thing you should never do is flush the toilet with the lid up, as it sends bacteria everywhere.
When tackling the job of cleaning toilets gather all your supplies together in one place. This makes it far easier and quicker to get started. Some of the supplies you need are rubber gloves, a stiff plastic bristle brush and holder, paper towels, cleansing powder, bleach spray and all purpose cleaner.
You can make your own bleach spray by mixing 3/4 cup of bleach and a gallon of water. Fill a spray bottle with this solution. Make a good all-purpose cleanser by mixing a cup of rubbing alcohol and a tablespoon of ammonia in a spray bottle and then fill up the rest with water.
Wearing your rubber gloves, always start cleaning toilets by pouring or sprinkling cleanser into the toilet bowl, but not in the water. After leaving it sit for a few minutes, use your toilet brush and scrub, starting under the rim and clean to the bottom of the bowl.
Flush your toilet with the lid down, when you finish scrubbing. Spray the outside of your toilet with an all-purpose disinfectant spray. Using paper towels, start wiping the toilet down, beginning at the top of the tank. Pay special attention to the handle area and the toilet base.
Now, spray the toilet seat outside and inside, the hinges and then the rim of the toilet. Using the paper towels, wipe this area clean, from the lid to the toilet rim. Always start at the top and work your way down.
Nobody likes to use a bathroom that looks like it needs a good cleaning. Clean your bathroom weekly or more often if used a lot. Pay special attention when cleaning toilets and your bathrooms will sparkle and shine.
